The expedition of Dolpo trek instigates after your arrival in Kathmandu. After the exploration of various religious and historical sites in Kathmandu, we take a flight to Nepalgunj and then towards Jhupal. The flight energies over various beautiful mountain sights and local settlements. We instigate our trek from Jhupal towards Dunai. The trail spirits through the mountain region along with the rain shadow area. We follow the track of Renje via Akhe, We’ll visit Phoksundi National Park in Ankhe that comprises flora and fauna that are only found in Nepal. On additional walking, we reach Phoksundo Lake which is one of the most gorgeous lakes in Nepal. After exploring the Phoksundo areas, we carry on our trek near Shey Gompa and then towards Saldang la Pass. Walking through numerous villages, we reach Dho Tarap where you can experience the Tibetan culture. We pass through several places including Serkam, Khani Gaon, and Tarakot and cross some suspension bridges on the way. We walk near Nepalgunj via Dunai. We have a drive or flight to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj. Our excursion ends back in Kathmandu.
Unique culture and tradition in the Dolpo region
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1350 m)
As soon as you arrive in Kathmandu, a representative will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. We’ll visit various religious and historical places in Kathmandu. In the evening, you’ll be served a special dinner that introduces Nepali food culture. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Flight to Nepalgunj
As the morning arises, we take a sightseeing flight towards Nepalgunj. Overnight in Nepalgunj.
Day 3: Flight to Jhupal (Dolpo 2320 m), trek to Dunai (2850 m): 2-3 Hrs. walk
We again take another flight towards Jhuopal which is also known as Dolpo. We begin our trek from Jhupal towards Dunai. We walk through various mountains along with the region of the rain shadow area. Overnight in Dunai.
Day 4: Trek to Ankhe (2660 m): 5-6 Hrs.
We continue our trek through the suspension bridge and further move through various grazing meadows. We reach Hanke village which is known as the gateway of Phoksundo Lake after trekking on the bank of the river. On further passing through Parela and Rahagaon, we finally reach Ankhe. Overnight in Ankhe.
Day 5: Trek to Renja (3104 m): 6-7 Hrs.
After an early breakfast, we descend towards Renja. The trail goes through the river bed and various suspension bridges. Overnight in Renja.
Day 6: Trek to Phoksundo Lake (3660 m): 6-7 Hrs.
We walk through the different steep landscape and have several climbs. We climb steadily through the forests to Phoksundo Khola ad reach Ringmo Village. On further walking, we reach Phoksundo Lake. Overnight in camp.
Day 7: Explore Phoksundo Lake
We spend our whole day exploring Phoksundo Lake. You can see the Yak Caravans on the way that is heading their destinations carrying packsack behind. We’ll visit various monasteries and discover the hidden practices in the area. Overnight in camp.
Day 8: Trek to Phoksundo Khola (3570 m): 5-6 Hrs.
The trek continues towards Phoksundo Khola through the isolated parts of the Dolpo to its upper part. We have a steep climb towards Phoksundo Khola. Overnight in camp.
Day 9: Trek to Phoksundo Bhanjyang (4402 m): 5-6 Hrs.
The flat trail through the remote and glacial valleys through the narrow roads leads us towards gigantic clings ad contorted rock formation. We cross the suspension bridge and have a steep climb and reach Phoksundo Bhanjyang. Overnight in camp.
Day 10: Trek to Shey Gompa (4126 m): 6-7 Hrs.
Today, the walk us physically demanding route prevailed with the soft stones slates. We cross the Kang La Pass and walk through the gradual ascending for a couple of hours. After we reach the hill, we’ll observe the outstanding views of the stunning landscape. The walk is still challenging. We can see a beautiful red monastery which is a famous Shey Gompa. Overnight in Shey Gompa.
Day 11: Explore Shey Gompa
Today, we spend our whole day exploring Shey Gompa. The region is connected to the mountain which is crystal. It is famous among the Tibetan Lama where people come to meditate in the tranquil environment. Overnight in Shey Gompa.
Day 12: Trek to Namdua Gaon (4400 m): 5-6 Hrs.
We walk through the Juniper forest and climb to the rocky canyon. The trail goes through the flat landscape and crosses the Saldang La Pass. We climb towards the Namduna Village which has got a monastery that belongs to the Karma Pa sect of Buddhism. Overnight in Namdua Gaon.a
Day 13: Trek to Saldang (3903 m): 3-4 Hrs.
After we pass the Namgung Monastery, we start to climb uphill towards the dusty trail where we can get the views of the barren landscape. We walk through a wonderful village in the inner Dolpo area and finally reach Saldang. Overnight in Saldang.
Day 14: Trek to Sibu (3942 m): 5-6 Hrs
We catch the trail down to the Riverbed across the picturesque terraced fields. We walk through various Chhortens and Mani walls that signify the mystical prowess of spiritual people. From the Namdo Village, we descend to the Riverbed along the high slope and reach to Sibu. Overnight in Sibu.
Day 15: Trek to the foot of Jeng La (4369 m): 4-5 Hrs.
After an early breakfast, we walk along an easy trail. Walking for a couple of hours, we cross a stream and head through the pleasant trail beside the village and reach on the foot of Jeng La. Overnight in Jeng La.
Day 16: Trek to Tokyu Gaon (4240 m): 6-7 Hrs
We gently limb towards Jeng La on the top that offers a striking view of the beautiful Dhaulagiri peak that glitters far on the horizon with the sunlight. We continuously trek towards Tarap Chu and ascend towards Tokyu Gaon which is surrounded by various Monasteries and Chhortens. Overnight in Tokyu Gaon.
Day 17: Trek to Dho Tarap (4090 m): 4-5 Hrs.
The trek endures near Chaiba Gompa and then towards a gentle trace that marks the animal herds and beautiful farming lands. You can see people wearisome unique dresses that make known to unique culture and tradition. On further hiking, we reach Dho Tarap. Overnight in Dho Tarap.
Day 18: Trek to Serkam (3630 m): 5-6 Hrs
Early in the morning, we walk on the bank of Tarap Khola and head towards narrow George. We can observe the beautiful view of the Himalayas that forces us to capture the moments in the camera. After crossing a suspension bridge, we reach Serkam. Overnight in Serkam.
Day 19: Trek to Khani Gaon (2550 m): 5-6 Hrs
We follow the trail of George of the Tara River. The trail is a steep slope with a narrow and crumbly path. After crossing various meadows, we reach Khani Gaon. Overnight in Khani Gaon.
Day 20: Trek to Tarakot (2281 m): 3-4 Hrs.
After an early breakfast, we decent towards Tarakot. The trace goes through the vertical landscape and marks the suspension bridge. Overnight in Tarakot.
Day 21: Trek to Dunai (2052 m): 4-5 Hrs
From Tarakot, we walk along the wide route above the Thuli Bheri River. After an easy walk, we finally reach the district headquarter of the Dolpo region of Dunai. Overnight in Dunai.
Day 22: Trek to Jhupal (2404 m): 3-4 Hrs
Following the trail of sloppy roads, we trek towards Jhupal. Overnight in Jhupal.
Day 23: Flight to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we prepare for the flight towards Kathmandu via Nepalgunj. We catch the beautiful scenes of various mountains on the way. After reaching Kathmandu, you can go shopping for gifts for your family and friends. Overnight in Nepalgunj.
Day 24: Final Departure
Our journey of Dolpo Trek comes to an end this day. After an early breakfast and hotel register, the staff will help you with your final departure.
